I agree with others that letterboxing is a hobby where one is bound
to get inky. Heck, it is one way we an identify fellow l.b.ers out
in the wild ...along with the pieces of paper clenched in hands,
mutterings about compass readings, tree sisters, stone walls and
paces-left foot only. Some of my favorite stamps are double sided.

Okay, this may be over-engineering, BUT...
How about carving a groove around the outer eraser edge then framing it with wood for the fingers?
Too much? Hey, it's Winter - we have very chilly days to not be able to go outside, but ya gotta do something...
